Regular Season Round 24: Falcon - Horsholm 72-70
Date: February 1, 2014
Important game to mention about took place in Falcon. Ninth ranked Falcon (6-12) saved a 2-point victory at home edging higher ranked Horsholm (8-10) 72-70 on Saturday evening. It looked good early as Horsholm took an 17-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Falcon took control winning next two quarters and eventually winning the game that evening by 2 points. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Horsholm to just 7 points in second quarter. The winners were led by American center Robert Thurman (208-89, college: California) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 28 points and 15 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) and the other American import power forward Taylor Darby (204-90, college: Pepperdine) supported him with 18 points. Falcon's coach Rade Vojnovic allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 23 points and 5 rebounds by forward Daniel Mortensen (202-94) did not help to save the game for Horsholm. American forward Demetrius Phillips (207-87, college: Bridgeport) added 12 points and 6 rebounds. Four Horsholm players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Falcon maintains ninth position with 6-12 record. Horsholm at the other side keeps the fifth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Aalborg. Falcon will play against higher ranked Naestved (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Horsholm will play against the league's second-placed Bakken where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
