Regular Season Round 19: Bandirma Kir. - Hacettepe 85-76

Bottom-ranked Bandirma Kir. managed to get a third victory, breaking the series of twelve consecutive loses on Saturday night. This time they won against seventeenth-ranked Hacettepe in Balikesir 85-76. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Hacettepe won fourth quarter 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for Burak Sasmaz (-91) who led the winners and scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American point guard Harvey Todd (188-91, college: Wash.Adventist, agency: BBEH Cokrlija) accounted for 25 points for the winning side. Bandirma Kir.'s coach Yalcin Kucukozkan used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Keith Chamberlain (204-87, college: Grinnell) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and Jordanian guard Sinan Eid (193-91) added 17 points respectively for Hacettepe in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bandirma Kir. (3-16) moved-up to seventeenth place, which they share with defeated Hacettepe. Hacettepe lost their thirteenth game in a row. Bandirma Kir. will meet higher ranked Antalya (#10) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hacettepe's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Ankara Ankara DSI Era.
