Regular Season Round 16: Chieti - Cagliari CUS 66-76

Bottom-ranked C.U.S. Chieti (0-16) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 76-66 loss to ninth ranked Cagliari CUS (5-11) in Chieti on Sunday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Cagliari CUS. C.U.S. Chieti managed to win second period 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded C.U.S. Chieti 38-23 including 27 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Adrienne Johnson (182-89, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 9 rebounds and international guard Cinzia Arioli (178-84) who added 19 points during the contest. Four Cagliari CUS players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Sequoia Holmes (185-86, college: UNLV, agency: Merit Management Group) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds and Argentinian point guard Debora Gonzalez (170-90, agency: Players Group) scored 16 points and 4 assists. Cagliari CUS moved-up to eighth place. C.U.S. Chieti at the other side still closes the standings. Cagliari CUS will meet at home higher ranked Lucca (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. C.U.S. Chieti will play against Priolo (#11) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
