Everything went according to plan in Acapulco where fifth ranked Toros (24-12) beat 9th ranked Angeles (17-19) 109-104. Power forward Juan Manuel Esteva (196-83) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV) contributed with 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American forward Ronald Selleaze (197-76, college: CSU Bakersfield) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import swingman O'Louis McCullough (198-82, college: Francis Marion) added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Angeles. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Angeles' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Toros. They maintain fifth place with 24-12 record. Newly promoted Angeles keep the ninth position with 19 games lost. Toros' next round opponent will be higher ranked Abejas (#4) in Guanajuato and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Angeles will play on the road against Gansos (#14) in Ciudad de Mexico and hope to win that game.
