Everything went according to plan in Acapulco where fifth ranked Toros (24-12) beat 9th ranked Angeles (17-19) 109-104. Angeles were ahead by 5 points at the halftime before a 33-16 third quarter run of Toros. They dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Angeles' 32. Power forward Juan Manuel Esteva (196-83) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV) contributed with 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American forward Ronald Selleaze (197-76, college: CSU Bakersfield) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import swingman O'Louis McCullough (198-82, college: Francis Marion) added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Angeles.
