Very expected game in Izmir where 18th ranked Hacettepe (3-24) was rolled over by eleventh ranked Gelism (13-14) 114-82 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Gelism. Hacettepe was better in second period 31-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Hacettepe 44-22 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was power forward Orbay Kaya (205-82) who scored 17 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Sertay Gursu (195-87) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists. Five Gelism players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was center Eyup Aydogan (206-89) who recorded 25 points and 6 rebounds and Berkay Demirci (-91) added 14 points and 14 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gelism moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Balikesir. Hacettepe lost their twentieth first game in a row. They stay dead last with 24 lost games. Gelism will face Antalya (#13) on the road in the next round. Hacettepe will play against Yesilgiresun (#4) and hope to win that game.
