Regular Season Round 11: Waikato P. - Canterbury 82-86

Bottom-ranked Rams managed to get a fourth victory on Sunday night. This time newly promoted Rams won against fifth-ranked Pistons in Hamilton 86-82. The guests trailed by 11 points after three quarters before their 24-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for American center Matthew Rogers (211-87, college: SW Baptist) who led his team to a victory scoring 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 blocks. The former international guard Jeremy Kench (186-84) helped adding 13 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists. American swingman Akeem Wright (200-84, college: Kansas St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import point guard Corin Henry (180-88, college: Tarleton St.) scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Rams maintains tenth place with 4-11 record. Loser Pistons keep the fifth position with seven games lost. Rams will face higher ranked Nuggets (#6) in Dunedin in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pistons will play on the road against Jets in Palmerston North and hope to win that game.
