Abejas has registered their first victory this season after four consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Panteras (1-4) 95-78 on Thursday. The game without a history. Abejas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Abejas outrebounded Panteras 45-27 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Reginald Larry (198-86, college: Boise St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 17 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners and his fellow American import forward Steffphon Pettigrew (195-89, college: W.Kentucky) chipped in 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Puerto Rican forward Carlos Lopez-Sosa (208-90, college: UNLV, agency: Paris Global Sports) responded with 26 points and 4 assists and American-Puerto Rican power forward Angelo Reyes (205-81) scored 14 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Panteras' coach Jorge Otero tested twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Abejas left bottom position moving up to twelfth place, which they share with defeated Panteras. Abejas will face higher ranked Barreteros (#10) in Zacatecas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
