Regular Season Round 4: Las Animas - AB Ancud 80-73

There was no surprise in Valdivia where 7th ranked AB Ancud (1-3) was defeated by fifth ranked Las Animas (3-1) 80-73 on Sunday. AB Ancud trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 21-17 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 73-80 at the end of the game. Las Animas made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Las Animas outrebounded AB Ancud 44-25 including a 33-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Spanish center Ismael Torres (202-79) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Belizean-American forward Alex Carcamo (200-77, college: E.Washington) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. The former international forward Samuel Bravo (194-82) produced 21 points and 4 assists and American power forward Dwight Burke (202-86, college: Marquette) added 19 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Las Animas moved-up to third place, which they share with CD Castro. Loser AB Ancud dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
