Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Deportivo Valdivia and 10th ranked Puerto Montt had identical 1-3 record. This time Deportivo Valdivia used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Puerto Montt 108-85 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Deportivo Valdivia. Puerto Montt was better in fourth quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Deportivo Valdivia made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Deportivo Valdivia outrebounded Puerto Montt 40-29 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Puerto Montt was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Four Deportivo Valdivia players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Lawrence Tyson (193-88, college: CS San Bernar., agency: Sherman International) with 32 points and 4 assists and his fellow American import power forward Anthony Joseph (202-82, college: Emporia St., agency: Gamble Sports Management) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Deportivo Valdivia (2-3) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with AB Ancud. Puerto Montt lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with four games lost. Deportivo Valdivia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Valdivia Las Animas.
