Regular Season Round 4: Rawia - Gornik 71-89

There was no surprise in Rawicz where 6th ranked Rawia (1-2) was defeated by top-ranked Gornik (4-0) 89-71 on Saturday. The game without a history. Gornik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Gornik outrebounded Rawia 47-18 including a 22-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Piotr Niedzwiedzki (211-93) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks and center Daniel Iwanski (195-79) who added 11 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Four Gornik players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Wojciech Suprun (203-82) responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Szymon Maciolek (190-91) scored 15 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Gornik have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Gornik maintains first position in Group D with 4-0 record. Rawia at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the eighth place with two games lost. Gornik will face Koscian (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rawia will play against Miedzychod and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
