Regular Season Round 5: Herner - Rhein MB 63-56

Undefeated leader Herner TC delivered the fifth consecutive victory. This time they beat 10th ranked Rhein Main Baskets (1-4) 63-56. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Rhein Main Baskets won third quarter 14-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Rhein Main Baskets 47-25 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Erica Barnes (188-92, college: Arizona) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. Her fellow American import point guard Quenese Davis (177-88, college: San Diego St.) contributed with 22 points and 5 steals for the winners. The former international forward Svenja Greunke (188-89) answered with 19 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Breannah Ranger (188, college: Green Bay) added 14 points in the effort for Rhein Main Baskets. Herner TC (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 5 victories in a row, which they share with Wasserburg. Rhein Main Baskets lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with four games lost. They share it with Oberhausen. Herner TC will play against BC Pharmaserv Marburg (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Rhein Main Baskets will play against Oberhausen (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
