Regular Season Round 3: Hapoel J-M - Hapoel T-A 81-80

The most exciting game of round 3 in the Winner League took place in Jerusalem. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of Hapoel Tel-Aviv (1-2) to Hapoel Jerusalem (3-0) 81-80 on Sunday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 44-41 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Hapoel Jerusalem looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a good game for American-Venezuelan Donta Smith (201-83, college: SE Illinois JC) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. American point guard Derwin Kitchen (194-86, college: Florida St.) contributed with 11 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners. The former international Raviv Limonad (191-84) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 assists and naturalized Swedish power forward Jonathan Skjoldebrand (204-83) added 20 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Hapoel Tel-Aviv. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hapoel Jerusalem is looking forward to face Galil Gilboa in Rosh Pina in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will play on the road against Maccabi Haifa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
