Regular Season Round 8: Puente Alto - CD Castro 90-95

Leader CD Castro delivered the sixth victory on Saturday night. This time they beat bottom-ranked Puente Alto (0-7) 95-90. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Puente Alto won fourth quarter 24-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CD Castro made 30-of-38 free shots (78.9 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a quality performance of Nigerian-American power forward Ike Okoye (206-86, college: Boise St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds and the former international point guard Gonzalo Velasquez (185-81) who added 29 points during the contest. Four CD Castro players scored in double figures. American forward Donovan Johnson (201-92, college: Ky Wesleyan) responded with 32 points and 7 rebounds and the former international point guard Rodrigo Espinoza (183-81) scored 23 points and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. CD Castro have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-1 record. Loser Puente Alto still closes the standings with seven games lost. CD Castro will meet Colo Colo (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Puente Alto will play against AB Ancud (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
