There was a minor upset in Lublin where 10th ranked Twarde Pierniki (2-3) was defeated by twelfth ranked Wikana Start (2-3) 75-62 on Friday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Wikana Start's pressure prevailed and they won that period 18-12 extending their advantage to 13 points. Wikana Start outrebounded Twarde Pierniki 38-27 including 29 on the defensive glass. American guard Bryon Allen (190-92, college: George Mason) stepped up and scored 31 points and 5 assists for the winners and power forward Tomasz Wojdyla (200-77) chipped in 8 points and 15 rebounds. Canadian center Sean Denison (211-85, college: Santa Clara) responded with 20 points and 6 rebounds and American point guard Jamar Diggs (188-88, college: Wofford, agency: Beo Basket) scored 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Wikana Start moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Twarde Pierniki. Twarde Pierniki lost their third game in a row. Wikana Start will face higher ranked Rosa (#5) in Radom in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
