Regular Season Round 10: CDU Catolica - Puente Alto 86-85 OT

Puente Alto (#11) forced the game against Universidad Catolica (#10) into an overtime, but lost by one point 85-86 on Saturday night. Puente Alto was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 20-18 charge of Universidad Catolica, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 12-11. Universidad Catolica forced 23 Puente Alto turnovers. American forward John Dickson (198-90, college: Sacramento St.) fired a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Argentinian-Italian power forward Franco Prelazzi (205-79) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds. American forward Donovan Johnson (201-92, college: Ky Wesleyan) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international point guard Rodrigo Espinoza (183-81) added 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Four Universidad Catolica and five Puente Alto players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Universidad Catolica have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with AB Ancud. Loser Puente Alto keeps the eleventh position with eight games lost. They share it with Puerto Montt. Universidad Catolica's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santiago Colo Colo.
