Regular Season Round 7: AZS UMK Torun - KUKS Koszalin 83-66

Everything went according to plan when first ranked AZS UMK Torun (5-1) beat at home bottom-ranked KUKS Koszalin (0-6) 83-66 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by AZS UMK Torun. KUKS Koszalin was better in second period 15-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded KUKS Koszalin 43-23 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for guard Zbigniew Malinowski (188-84) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Radoslaw Plebanek (190-85) helped adding 20 points and 5 rebounds. AZS UMK Torun's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side center Maciej Szewczyk (197-94) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds and Pawel Spica (192-93) scored 16 points and 4 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for AZS UMK Torun. They maintain first place in Group A with 5-1 record, which they share with Notec. KUKS Koszalin lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with six games lost. AZS UMK Torun will face league's second-placed Notec in Inowroclaw in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. KUKS Koszalin will play at home against Asseco II (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
