Regular Season Round 6: Canarias - Castello 43-84

Very expected game when bottom-ranked Canarias (0-6) was smashed by fourth ranked Castello (5-1) in Gran Canaria 84-43 on Sunday. The game without a history. Castello led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Castello forced 26 Canarias turnovers. Strangely Canarias outrebounded Castello 41-28 including 31 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Canarias' players. It was a good game for guard Manuel Rodriguez (192-91) who led his team to a victory with 28 points. Center Victor Hidalgo (204-86) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Castello players scored in double figures. The former international point guard Bernardo Hernandez (187-75) replied with 14 points and swingman Roberto Guerra (196-83) added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Canarias. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Castello have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Caceres. Newly promoted Canarias still closes the standings with six games lost. Castello will face Cambados (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Canarias will play against CB Guadalajara and hopes to get finally their first victory.
