Very predictable result when second ranked C.de Latte BRE (5-1) beat on the road 8th ranked Trieste (3-4) 87-81 on Sunday. Trieste trailed by 17 points at halftime and as many as 19 after three quarters before a 30-17 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 81-87 at the end of the game. Trieste was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Roberto Nelson (190-91, college: Oregon St.) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. His fellow American import forward Justin Brownlee (201-88, college: St.John's) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Brownlee is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four C.de Latte BRE players scored in double figures. American forward Murphy Holloway (201-90, college: Mississippi) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 17 rebounds and the former international Stefano Tonut (194-93) added 27 points respectively for lost side. Trieste's coach Eugenio Dalmasson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. C.de Latte BRE maintains second place with 5-1 record having just three points less than leader Tezenis VE. Loser Trieste dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. C.de Latte BRE will face Casalpusterlengo (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Trieste will play against Givova Napoli and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
