Regular Season Round 7: Wikana-Start - Polpharma 81-97
Date: November 14, 2014
Everything could happen in Lublin at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Polpharma and 12th ranked Wikana Start had identical 2-4 record. But Wikana Start was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Starogard 97-81 on Friday night. The game was mostly controlled by Polpharma. Wikana Start was better in third quarter 24-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Polpharma especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. Quite impressive performance for American guard Jessie Sapp (188-86, college: Georgetown) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. His fellow American import power forward Evan Ravenel (203-89, college: Ohio St.) contributed with 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Polpharma players scored in double figures. American guard Bryon Allen (190-92, college: George Mason) answered with 30 points and 6 assists and power forward Tomasz Wojdyla (200-77) added 17 points in the effort for Wikana Start. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Polpharma (3-4) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Wikana Start keeps the twelfth position with five games lost. Polpharma will face MKS Dabrowa Gornicza (#15) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Wikana Start will play against the league's leader PGE Turow having rather not much hope for a victory.
