Higher ranked Socar Petkim (4-3) fell to twelfth ranked Yesilgiresun (3-4) in overtime by eight points 91-99 on Saturday night. The game took place in Petkim. But the guests from Giresun were better at the end. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Socar Petkim won fourth quarter 21-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Socar Petkim used huge pressure winning it 21-14 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 10-18. Strangely Socar Petkim outrebounded Yesilgiresun 42-29 including a 21-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Ramel Bradley (188-85, college: Kentucky) who led the winners and scored 33 points (!!!). His fellow American import center Kenny Frease (212-89, college: Xavier) accounted for 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winning side. American forward Tyler Smith (201-86, college: Tennessee) came up with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and American-DR Congolese center Bambale Osby (203-86, college: Maryland) added 16 points and 16 rebounds respectively for Socar Petkim in the defeat. Four Socar Petkim players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Yesilgiresun moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Newly promoted Socar Petkim dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Adanaspor and Akhisar Bld. Yesilgiresun will meet at home Mamak DSI (#15) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Socar Petkim will play against Final Genclik (#9) in Bursa and hope to secure a win.
