Regular Season Round 7: Lucentum - Canarias 95-71

LEB Silver top team - Meridiano Alicante (7-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fifteenth ranked Canarias (0-7) 95-71. The game was mostly controlled by Meridiano Alicante. Canarias was better in fourth quarter 26-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Canarias 36-20 including 24 on the defensive glass. Meridiano Alicante shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 55.2 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a quality performance for forward Joan Pardina (202-93) who led the winners and scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Swingman Javier Marin (194-86) accounted for 9 points and 7 assists for the winning side. Four Meridiano Alicante players scored in double figures. Meridiano Alicante's coach Kuko Cruza felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. British center Aaron Geramipoor (213-92, college: Seton Hall) came up with 14 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Roberto Guerra (196-83) added 15 points and 4 steals respectively for Canarias in the defeat. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Meridiano Alicante. Newly promoted Meridiano Alicante maintains first place with 7-0 record. Canarias lost their seventh game in a row. Canarias at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with seven games lost. Meridiano Alicante will play against Cambados (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Canarias will have a break next round.
