Regular Season Round 15: Akita NH - Okinawa GK 66-79

An interesting game for Okinawa GK (11-2) which played road game in Akita against second-best Akita Happinets (12-3). Second ranked Okinawa GK managed to get a 13-point victory 79-66. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Akita Happinets. The game was mostly controlled by Okinawa GK. Akita Happinets was better in second period 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Okinawa GK won last quarter 26-15. Okinawa GK outrebounded Akita Happinets 48-36 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Narito Namizato (172-89) helped adding 19 points. Four Okinawa GK players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American swingman Richard Roby (198-85) with 19 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals and guard Shigehiro Taguchi (184-90) scored 14 points and 6 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Okinawa GK have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 11-2 record having 2 victories less than leader Iwate Big Bulls which they share with defeated Akita Happinets. Akita Happinets at the other side keep the second position with three games lost. Okinawa GK will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Akita Happinets will play again at home against the league's second-placed Okinawa GK and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
