The game between closely ranked teams ended with tenth ranked Deportivo Valdivia's (4-10) home victory over 11th ranked Puente Alto (2-12) 90-80 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-80. It was a good game for American forward Rayshawn Goins (198, college: JMU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Jaycen Herring (196-86, college: SE Missouri St.) contributed with 25 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners. Herring is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. The former international point guard Rodrigo Espinoza (183-81) answered with 20 points and 8 assists and forward Felipe Zapata (192-87) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Puente Alto. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Puente Alto's coach tested twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Deportivo Valdivia moved-up to ninth place, which they share with CDU Catolica. Puente Alto lost their third game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Deportivo Valdivia will face bottom-ranked Puerto Montt (#12) on the road in the next round. Puente Alto will play against the league's leader Universidad de Concepcion where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
