There was no surprise when 12th ranked Speyer (2-8) was defeated on the road by second ranked Wuerzburg (7-3) 94-87 on Saturday. American guard Donovan Morris (191-84, college: Long Beach St.) fired 26 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. The other American import center John Florveus (211-90, college: Georgia) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds. Five Wuerzburg players scored in double figures. American Marcus Smallwood (200-82, college: N.Illinois, agency: R.H.Consultancy) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and guard Benjamin Kaufhold (186-89) added 27 points respectively for lost side. Newly promoted Wuerzburg maintains second position in Group South with 7-3 record having just two points less than leader Iserlohn, which they share with Schwelm. Loser Speyer dropped to the eleventh place with eight games lost. Wuerzburg will face Licher Basket (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Speyer will play against White Wings and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
