Regular Season Round 36: Sacramento K. - Orlando M. 96-105
Date: December 6, 2014
Forward Tobias Harris scored 26 points and forward Channing Frye made a desperation 3-pointer to help curtail a collapse as the Orlando Magic gutted out a 105-96 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night at Sleep Train Arena. The Magic hit nine 3-pointers but none more important than Frye's heave from 25 feet just before the shot clock expired with 2:54 to go. Frye picked up a loose ball, turned and fired, putting Orlando ahead 95-90 after the Kings erased a 16-point fourth-quarter deficit. Frye finished with six points. Sacramento forward Derrick Williams' dunk tied it 90-90 with 3:59 left before Orlando scored the next nine points. Guard Victor Oladipo added 16 points, guard Evan Fournier scored 15 and forward Kyle O'Quinn had 13 for Orlando (9-14), which ended a six-game road trip with a 3-3 record. Guard Ben Gordon added 11 points and guard Elfrid Payton's layup that started Orlando's decisive 9-0 run was part of his eight-point night. Sacramento guard Darren Collison scored 22 points and forward Jason Thompson added a season-high 18 points, but the Kings (10-10) lost for the fifth time in six games. Sacramento missed its first nine shots from 3-point range and shot just 45 percent from the field. Both teams played without their leading scorers and rebounders. Kings C DeMarcus Cousins sat out his fifth consecutive game because of a viral infection. Magic C Nikola Vucevic missed his fourth straight with a sprained lower back. Both teams played for the second straight night. The Magic appeared to have the fresher legs, making 51 percent of their shots, including 35 percent from 3-point range. Sacramento endured a 2-of-16 stretch in the second quarter and trailed 82-66 with just over 10 minutes left. But Sacramento blitzed Orlando with nine straight points during a 70-second span. Williams' old-fashioned three-point play after being fouled on a layup started the run. After an Orlando turnover, Collison nailed Sacramento's first 3-pointer of the game despite a foul and hit the free throw. Kings forward Omri Casspi got loose for a layup after Magic's ensuing miss and the rally was on. Courtesy of: wptz.com
