Regular Season Round 10: Pertevniyal - Gelisim 70-77

Date: December 6, 2014
Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Pertevniyal (3-7) lost to ninth ranked Gelisim (6-4) in Istanbul 70-77 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Pertevniyal won fourth quarter 18-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gelisim made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Quite impressive performance for American point guard Derek Williams (185-85, college: SMU) who helped to win the game recording 26 points. The other American import center Marvin Jefferson (206-86, college: Idaho) contributed with 9 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Gelisim's coach Arda Vekiloglu allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Berk Demir (203-95) replied with 13 points and 9 rebounds and American power forward Damen Bell-Holter (206-90, college: ORU) added 8 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Pertevniyal. Four Pertevniyal players scored in double figures. Gelisim have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Pertevniyal lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with seven games lost. Gelisim will face Yesilgiresun (#10) in Giresun in the next round. Pertevniyal will play on the road against the league's second-placed Sakarya BSB in Sakaraya and hope to win that game.
