Very expected game when 15th ranked Wikana Start (3-10) lost to sixth ranked Asseco (7-6) in Gdynia 74-89 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Asseco. Wikana Start was better in fourth quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Asseco dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Wikana Start's 18. Quite impressive performance for guard Filip Matczak (187-93) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. American point guard A.J. Walton (184-90, college: Baylor) contributed with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. The former international swingman Bartosz Diduszko (198-87) answered with 17 points and American guard Bryon Allen (190-92, college: George Mason) added 14 points and 6 assists in the effort for Wikana Start. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Asseco maintains sixth place with 7-6 record, which they share with Trefl Sopot and Energa Czarni. Wikana Start lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the thirteenth position with ten games lost. Asseco will face MKS Dabrowa Gornicza (#12) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Wikana Start will play against Wilki Morskie and hope to win that game.
