The game in Valladolid was also quite interesting. 5th ranked Burgos (8-6) played at the court of sixth ranked Blancos de Rueda (9-5). Blancos de Rueda managed to secure a 7-point victory 77-70 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-17. But Burgos won second period 21-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Blancos de Rueda looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for center Sergio De La Fuente (198-89) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. The former international guard Roman Montanez (191-79) accounted for 19 points for the winning side. American-Cape Verdean point guard Jeffrey Xavier (189-85, college: Providence) came up with 24 points and power forward Jorge Garcia (203-77) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Burgos in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Blancos de Rueda moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Ourense. Loser Burgos dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. They share it with Palma. Blancos de Rueda will meet at home Lobe Huesca (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Burgos will play against Leche Rio Breogan (#3) and hope to secure a win.
