Regular Season Round 28: Soles - Fuerza Regia 90-88

Fifth-ranked Fuerza Regia (14-11) was very close to win a game against fourth ranked Soles (19-9) in Mexicali on Monday. Soles managed to secure only two-point victory 90-88. However their fans expected easier game. Fuerza Regia trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 30-21 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 88-90 at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Puerto Rican guard Joseph Soto (190-93) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 5 rebounds. Ghanian-British forward Matthew Bryan-Amaning (205-88, college: Washington) contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Soles' coach Ivan Deniz used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman Terrence Williams (198-87, college: Louisville) added 18 points in the effort for Fuerza Regia. Five Soles and four Fuerza Regia players scored in double figures. Soles maintains fourth position with 19-9 record. Fuerza Regia at the other side keeps the fifth place with 11 games lost. Soles are looking forward to face Huracanes (#6) in Tampico in the next round. Fuerza Regia will play on the road against Abejas in Guanajuato and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
