Regular Season Round 16: MKS DG 2 - WKK Wroclaw 90-89

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked WKK Wroclaw (7-7) was edged by ninth ranked MKS DG 2 (5-10) in Dabrowa Gornicza 90-89 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 30-21 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. MKS DG 2 outrebounded WKK Wroclaw 47-33 including 36 on the defensive glass. Quite impressive performance for swingman Grzegorz Malecki (195-84, agency: Promotex) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Swingman Jakub Zalucki (194-89) contributed with 30 points for the winners. point guard Jakub Niziol (198-96) replied with 31 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Igor Wadowski (193-96) added 13 points and 6 assists in the effort for WKK Wroclaw. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. WKK Wroclaw's coach Sebastian Potoczny gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted MKS DG 2 maintains ninth position in Group C with 5-10 record. Loser WKK Wroclaw keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. MKS DG 2 will face higher ranked Mickiewicz (#4) in Katowice in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
