Regular Season Round 16: Mantovana - Lighthouse TR 79-91

Everything could happen in Mirandola at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Lighthouse TR and 9th ranked Mantovana had identical 7-8 record. But Mantovana was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Trapani 91-79 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by Lighthouse TR. Mantovana managed to win second period 23-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Mantovana to just 5 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Mantovana 38-17 including a 29-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Alex Legion (195-88, college: FIU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international power forward Andrea Renzi (209-89, agency: Players Group) who added 25 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Swedish Viktor Gaddefors (201-92) responded with 31 points and 6 rebounds and Aristide Landi (203-94) scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Four Mantovana players scored in double figures. Lighthouse TR (8-8) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Trieste and Angelico BI. Newly promoted Mantovana keeps the ninth position with nine games lost. They share it with Agrigento. Lighthouse TR will meet at home higher ranked FCM Ferentino (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Mantovana will play against Novipiu Casale (#5) and hope to secure a win.
