Regular Season Round 16: Stelmet ZG - Wikana-Start 84-76

Very expected game when 16th ranked Wikana Start (3-13) lost to second ranked Stelmet (13-3) in Zielona Gora 76-84 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 9 points after three quarters before their 29-12 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Stelmet looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a very good performance for American-Georgian swingman Quinton Hosley (201-84, college: Fresno St.) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals. International Aaron Cel (203-87) contributed with 14 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Guard Piotr Smigielski (195-89) replied with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and Alan Czujkowski (198-90, agency: Promotex) added 19 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Wikana Start. Five Stelmet and four Wikana Start players scored in double figures. Stelmet have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 13-3 record having just -1 point less than leader PGE Turow. Wikana Start lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom place with 13 games lost. Stelmet will face MKS Dabrowa Gornicza (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Wikana Start will play against Energa Czarni (#6) and hope to win that game.
