Regular Season Round 17: Stal Ostrow - AZS PP 107-66

Very predictable result when first ranked Stal Ostrow (13-4) rolled over bottom-ranked AZS PP (3-14) in Ostrow Wlkp. 107-66 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Stal Ostrow. AZS PP was better in fourth quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Stal Ostrow dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to AZS PP's 34 and made 22-of-23 free shots (95.7 percent) during the game, while AZS PP only scored five points from the stripe. They outrebounded AZS PP 41-21 including a 28-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. AZS PP was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Wojciech Zurawski (202-76) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Forward Wojciech Pisarczyk (201-88) contributed with 18 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners. Four Stal Ostrow players scored in double figures. Michal Szydlowski (197-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and Tomasz Baszak (183-82) added 20 points in the effort for AZS PP. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Stal Ostrow have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 13-4 record. AZS PP at the other side stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Stal Ostrow will face Spojnia (#6) in Stargard in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. AZS PP will play at home against Pogon Prudnik (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
