Regular Season Round 19: Ravenna - Matera 87-76

A2 Silver top team - Ravenna (13-6) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat fourteenth ranked Matera (7-12) 87-76. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Matera. Matera was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Ravenna dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Matera's 28. It was a quality performance for point guard Eugenio Rivali (178-86) who led the winners and scored 23 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. American guard Emmanuel Holloway (185-86, college: Illinois St., agency: Blacktop Management) accounted for 25 points for the winning side. Ravenna's coach Antimo Martino allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American point guard Josh Greene (183-92, college: CS Northridge) came up with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and naturalized Argentinian swingman Franco Migliori (197-82) added 19 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Matera in the defeat. Ravenna maintains first place with 13-6 record, which they share with Treviso Basket. Matera at the other side dropped to the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Latina Basket and Roseto. Ravenna will play against Recanati (#5) at home in the next round. Matera will play against Aget Service IM (#11) in Imola and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
