Regular Season Round 27: Lietuvos rytas - Juventus 79-76

Fourth-ranked Juventus (14-9) made lots of trouble for third ranked Lietuvos rytas (19-4) in Vilnius. Lietuvos rytas managed to secure only three-point victory 79-76. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts were already 12 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 21-12 Juventus' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 79-76 at the end of the game. Lietuvos rytas players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was a good game for the former international center Antanas Kavaliauskas (208-84, college: Texas A&M, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with 22 points. The former international guard Mindaugas Lukauskis (198-79) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Lietuvos rytas' coach Virginijus Seskus allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Valdas Dabkus (205-84) answered with 17 points and 9 rebounds and forward Arvydas Siksnius (196-87, college: Weatherford JC) added 14 points in the effort for Juventus. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Lietuvos rytas. They maintain third place with 19-4 record having five points less than leader Zalgiris. Juventus at the other side keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. Lietuvos rytas will play against Tonybet (#9) in Prienai in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Juventus will play on the road against Mazeikiai (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
