Regular Season Round 19: Karsiyaka - Anadolu Efes 92-84

The game between second ranked Anadolu Efes (14-5) and fourth ranked Karsiyaka (13-6) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Anadolu Efes was defeated by Karsiyaka in a tough game in Karsiyaka 84-92. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Anadolu Efes. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-13. But Anadolu Efes won second period 26-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Karsiyaka won last quarter 29-22. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Jon Diebler (198-88, college: Ohio St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points. His fellow American import point guard Bobby Dixon (178-83, college: Troy, agency: Beo Basket) helped adding 16 points and 6 assists. At the losing side American guard Matt Janning (197-88, college: Northeastern, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) responded with 17 points and Croatian forward Dario Saric (204-94, agency: Beo Basket) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Anadolu Efes' coach Dusan Ivkovic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Karsiyaka have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Darussafaka. Anadolu Efes at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. Karsiyaka is looking forward to face league's leader Fenerbahce Ulker in Istanbul in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Anadolu Efes will play at home against Galatasaray and is hoping to win this game.
