Regular Season Round 23: Vaerlose - Randers 66-84

Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Randers (11-12) won against on the road 9th ranked Vaerlose (6-17) 84-66. Vaerlose was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 46-27 second half run of Randers. They outrebounded Vaerlose 45-32 including a 36-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for the former international swingman Chris Nielsen (192-85) who led his team to a victory scoring 31 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). American power forward Bonell Colas (205-82, college: Florida) helped adding 20 points, 16 rebounds and 5 blocks. Swingman David Knudsen (193-94) responded with 27 points and American point guard Rob Woodson (180, college: Grand Valley St.) scored 15 points and 7 assists. Randers moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Naestved. Vaerlose lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 17 games lost. Randers will play against league's leader Horsens IC in Horsens in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vaerlose will play on the road against Svendborg (#4) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
