Rather predictable result when Polonia Bytom (6-5) rolled over at home Nowa Sol (3-8) 80-59 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 46-21 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Polonia Bytom dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Nowa Sol's 24 and made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Nowa Sol 49-29 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for Emil Podkowinski (194-88) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. Point guard Pawel Jurczynski (183-91) contributed with 25 points for the winners. Marcin Chodkiewicz (200-82, agency: Promotex) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Jakub Der (191-96) added 20 points in the effort for Nowa Sol. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Polonia Bytom will face Suchy Las (#8) on the road in the next round. Nowa Sol will play against WKK Wroclaw and hope to win that game.
