The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Azad as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Azad smashed 7th ranked Qazvin in Tehran 92-40. Azad held Qazvin to an opponent 20.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 50.0 percent accuracy of the winners and had 38 for 66 from the free-throw line, while Qazvin only scored seven points from the stripe. Azad forced 23 Qazvin turnovers and outrebounded them 46-33 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. 46 personal fouls committed by Qazvin helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was international Mohammad Hassanzadeh (203-90) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. Center Moradinasab Mahdi (202-92) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Five Azad players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Azad (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Mahram. Qazvin at the other side keeps the seventh place with four games lost. Qazvin will play next round against PMINA Esfahan trying to get back on the winning streak. Azad will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Mahram. It will be extra interesting game as Mahram is their local rival from Tehran.
