A very close game took place in Giresun between Socar Petkim and Yesilgiresun. Eighth ranked Socar Petkim (13-11) got a very close victory on the road over 9th ranked Yesilgiresun (12-12). Socar Petkim managed to escape with a 2-point win 79-77 on Saturday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Yesilgiresun won third quarter 18-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Socar Petkim won last quarter 21-20. Socar Petkim outrebounded Yesilgiresun 45-28 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Tyler Smith (201-86, college: Tennessee) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds. American-DR Congolese center Bambale Osby (203-86, college: Maryland) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Osby is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Socar Petkim's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Ramel Bradley (188-85, college: Kentucky) who recorded 19 points and 5 rebounds and the former international center Mutlu Demir (210-87) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Four Yesilgiresun players scored in double figures. Socar Petkim moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Adanaspor and Gelisim. Loser Yesilgiresun dropped to the tenth position with 12 games lost. Socar Petkim will meet at home Final Genclik (#12) in the next round where they are favorite. Yesilgiresun will play against Mamak DSI in Ankara and hope to secure a win.
