Regular Season Round 23: Zaglebie - Spojnia 72-73

A very close game took place in Sosnowiec between Spojnia and Zaglebie. Seventh ranked Spojnia (13-10) got a very close victory on the road over 6th ranked Zaglebie (13-10). Spojnia managed to escape with a 1-point win 73-72 in the fight for the sixth place. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. It was an exceptional evening for swingman Piotr Pluta (193-81, agency: Promotex) who led the winners and scored 25 points. The former international center Rafal Bigus (214-76, college: Villanova) accounted for 6 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side. Marek Piechowicz (201-88) came up with 16 points and 7 rebounds and center Patryk Nowerski (205-91) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Zaglebie in the defeat. Five Zaglebie players scored in double figures. Spojnia moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Zaglebie. Spojnia will meet at home league's second-placed Sokol Lancut in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zaglebie will play against SKK Siedlce (#13) and hope to secure a win.
