Regular Season Round 21: Maccabi Raanana - Hapoel Migd.H. 72-85

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Hapoel Migd.H. (15-6) defeated on the road 13th ranked Maccabi Raanana (6-15) 85-72. It looked good early as Maccabi Raanana took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Hapoel Migd.H. had a 21-10 second period charge getting the lead and Maccabi Raanana was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-85. Hapoel Migd.H. forced 19 Maccabi Raanana turnovers. Strangely Maccabi Raanana outrebounded Hapoel Migd.H. 42-25 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by Maccabi Raanana helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Kelly Beidler (199-88, college: Mt.St.Mary's) nailed 20 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and his fellow American import Chris Gaston (201-89, college: Fordham) accounted for 25 points. Hapoel Migd.H.'s coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Eric Wise (198-90, college: USC) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and American-Puerto Rican Alex Franklin (196-88, college: Siena) added 11 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Maccabi Raanana in the defeat. Hapoel Migd.H. have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 15-6 record behind leader Ironi K-A. Newly promoted Maccabi Raanana dropped to the twelfth position with 15 games lost. Hapoel Migd.H.'s next round opponent will be league's second-placed Maccabi K/G in Kiryat Gat and it will be for sure the game of the week. Maccabi Raanana will play on the road against Elitzur Ramla (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
