Regular Season Round 24: U-Banca TR - BC Timisoara 79-73

Rather expected game in Cluj where 5th ranked BC Timisoara (12-10) was defeated by third ranked U-Banca TR (14-8) 79-73. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But BC Timisoara won third quarter 18-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 24 personal fouls committed by BC Timisoara helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by American forward Sean Barnette (197-86, college: Wingate) who scored that evening 6 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Curtis Millage (185-81, college: Arizona St.) supported him with 13 points. U-Banca TR's coach Dorin Pintea allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 16 points and 8 assists by Bosnian point guard Zlatko Jovanovic (181-84, agency: Beo Basket) did not help to save the game for BC Timisoara. Bosnian Dalibor Persic (196-85) added 12 points and 7 rebounds. Four BC Timisoara players scored in double figures. U-Banca TR have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 14-8 record having five points less than leader Ploiesti. BC Timisoara at the other side dropped to the sixth place with ten games lost. U-Banca TR's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Cluj Univ.Cluj.
