Liga Nationala top team - Ploiesti (19-5) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed thirteenth ranked Univ.Cluj (0-24) 82-56. The game was mostly controlled by Ploiesti. Univ.Cluj was better in second period 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ploiesti forced 19 Univ.Cluj turnovers. Lithuanian guard Marius Runkauskas (189-86) notched 22 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and American swingman Jonte Flowers (196-85, college: Winona St.) supported him with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Four Ploiesti players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds by Belarusian center Vladzimir Krysevich (209-91) did not help to save the game for Univ.Cluj. American guard Brian Burrell (192-84, college: UTPA) added 16 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ploiesti have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 19-5 record. Newly promoted Univ.Cluj still closes the standings.
