Regular Season Round 27: Trotamundos - Toros 72-71

The most exciting game of round 27 in the LPB took place in Valencia. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Toros (7-13) to sixth ranked Trotamundos (10-8) 72-71 on Tuesday evening. The hosts trailed by 10 points after three quarters before their 25-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Toros helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for power forward Jesus Martinez (204-86) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international point guard David Cubillan (181-87, college: Marquette) contributed with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) answered with 21 points and 5 rebounds and Dominican guard Kelvin Pena (193-80, college: Southeastern CC) added 16 points and 8 assists in the effort for Toros. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Trotamundos maintains sixth place with 10-8 record. Toros at the other side keep the eighth position with 13 games lost. Trotamundos are looking forward to face Gaiteros (#9) in Maracaibo in the next round. Toros will play on the road against Cocodrilos in Caracas and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
