Regular Season Round 28: Fener.Ulker - Anadolu Efes 82-84

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Anadolu Efes as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Anadolu Efes edged their biggest opponent Fenerbahce Ulker in Istanbul 84-82. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Fenerbahce Ulker won third quarter 23-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Anadolu Efes looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Fenerbahce Ulker helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian center Nenad Krstic (212-83, agency: Beo Basket) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and American guard Matt Janning (197-88, college: Northeastern, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who added 15 points and 5 assists during the contest. Four Anadolu Efes players scored in double figures. At the losing side Serbian Bogdan Bogdanovic (198-92) responded with 24 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and Czech forward Jan Vesely (213-90) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Anadolu Efes have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Darussafaka. Defending champion Fenerbahce Ulker still keeps top place with seven games lost. Just two games before the end of Regular Season and it may be the most important game of the season next round when Fenerbahce Ulker faces strong Darussafaka trying to get back on the winning streak. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena of Darussafaka. Anadolu Efes will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Besiktas in Istanbul.
