Regular Season Round 7: Llaneros - Halcones 97-75

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Halcones (3-5) were outplayed on the road by third ranked Llaneros (6-2) 97-75 on Friday. The game without a history. Llaneros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Halcones' 38. Halcones were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Luis Hernandez who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Mexican-Puerto Rican guard Joseph Soto (190-93) helped adding 19 points and 9 assists. At the losing side Jose Manaures responded with 23 points and Jorge Leon Palacios scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Llaneros maintains third place with 6-2 record behind leader Bucaros. Halcones lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Llaneros will face Manizales (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game.
