Regular Season Round 2: Yokohama BC - Fukushima 96-88 OT

Fukushima (0-1) fell to Yokohama BC (1-0) in overtime by eight points 88-96 on Saturday night. Fukushima was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 24-23 charge of Yokohama BC, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 20-12. Yokohama BC dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Fukushima's 34. Yokohama BC forced 20 Fukushima turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Fukushima was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Cory Johnson (200-88, college: Valparaiso) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Panamanian-American forward Jordan Henriquez (214-89, college: Kansas St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Yokohama BC players scored in double figures. Yokohama BC's coach Taketo Aoki used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American swingman Le'Bryan Nash (201-92, college: Oklahoma St.) replied with 31 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Masaya Karimata (178-88) added 31 points and 6 assists in the effort for Fukushima. Yokohama BC will face again Fukushima at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
