Regular Season Round 2: CDU Catolica - Las Animas 74-72

Very expected game when Las Animas (0-2) were edged by Universidad Catolica (2-0) in Santiago 74-72 on Sunday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 22-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Las Animas were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated the game. Forward Jordan Clarke (203-89, college: Drake) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 15 rebounds. Point guard Erik Buggs (180-90, college: Valparaiso) contributed with 28 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Buggs is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Center Terrell Taylor (203-81, college: Virginia Tech, agency: DTMones) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds and forward Terrance Thomas (198-80, college: Baylor, agency: Interperformances) added 20 points in the effort for Las Animas. Universidad Catolica will face AB Ancud (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Las Animas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Valdivia Deportivo Valdivia.
