Regular Season Round 3: Trier - Vechta 75-78

A very interesting game took place in Trier. It ended with only three-point home defeat of Gladiators (1-2) to SC Rasta Vechta (2-1) 78-75 on Sunday evening. SC Rasta Vechta made 22-of-26 charity shots (84.6 percent) during the game. 28 personal fouls committed by Gladiators helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was naturalized Filipino forward Christian Standhardinger (203-89, college: Hawaii) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. American point guard Carlos Medlock (183-87, college: E.Michigan) chipped in 16 points and 6 assists. SC Rasta Vechta's coach Andreas Wagner used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Eric Anderson (204-93, college: New Haven) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Dwayne Evans (198-92, college: St.Louis) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively. SC Rasta Vechta's next round opponent will be Kirchheim Knights at home. Gladiators will play against Finke Baskets in Paderborn and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the BBL just one year after relegation.
